OneDB is a flexible database server that manages traditional relational, object-relational and dimensional databases. OneDB database server runs on Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.

OneDB Explore is a modernized tool for monitoring and managing your OneDB database servers. It imparts performance management capabilities, examines how key performance metrics are changing with time, and tracks how efficiently OneDB is working even when you are away from your screen. It notifies about issues arising on one of your OneDB database server instances via email, Twilio or PagerDuty.

OneDB Explore is a focal point for graphical monitoring, alerting and administration of your OneDB database servers.

After logging in to OneDB Explore, you will be directed to group dashboard for the root group. This dashboard contains zero servers and zero groups.

  • Adding Servers and Group
  • Click the Add Server button to add connection information for your OneDB database server instances.
  • Provide monitoring and admin credentials.
    • The monitoring credentials are used by OneDB Explore server and agent to gather data from OneDB database server instance.
    • The admin credentials are used for administration action performed on the database server, for example create a dbspace, edit an onconfig parameter, or deploy an agent.
  • Click the Add Group button to create group of servers that makes it easier to monitor and manage multiple servers.

  • Monitoring
  • OneDB Explore has built in, customizable sensors for monitoring database servers.
  • The agent is facilitated to monitor database server status automatically.
  • Whenever a change is detected, it immediately notifies as a “status” update.
  • The sensors to be monitored in the UI are defined by the user.
  • For gathering monitoring data, agent runs the sensor metrics classes by –
    • Running queries against the sysmaster database
    • Running onstat commands
    • Running OS command for host machine monitoring
  • Monitoring data is stored into a repository database that is configured by the user.

HCL OneDB

  • Alerting

Alerts are fully customizable. You can decide on what you want to be alerted on or the condition that triggers an alert. Group level alerts simplify the process of managing the alerts for multiple servers. You can modify or disable an inherited alert. If an alerting condition is met, an alerting incident is created.

  • In the OneDB Explore when an alerting condition is defined, OneDB Explore server subscribes the sensor’s data from the agent.
  • Through monitoring profile, agent gathers monitoring data for the sensor from the OneDB database server.
  • Every time a new monitoring data point is gathered, the agent sends a web socket message to the OneDB Explore server.
  • The new monitoring data point is evaluated against the defined alerting condition rule by OneDB Explore server.
  • If the alerting condition proves to be true, the OneDB Explore server creates an alerting incident.
  • OneDB Explore users that are subscribed to alerting notifications, OneDB Explore server will send alerting incident message (email,Twilio,PagerDuty).
