As users develop a ZIETrans project, they can establish a print session for the associated host application. When the ZIETrans application runs in a production environment, a user can print the data or display the formatted data for printing. Print support settings only apply to the default ZIETrans connection.

When interacting directly with a host application, the user activates a physical printer to print data from the application. When interacting with a ZIETrans application, a user does not activate a physical printer. Rather, a print file is generated, which can be displayed by the user. The print file can also be printed.

5250 Host file printing:

For 5250 connections, if a user selects the Enable print support check box, then the user must specify the web address of the system i® Access for Web Printer Output window. The default web address is https://hostname/webaccess/iWASpool (where hostname is the name of the 5250 host). The user of your application can set print options in the IWA Printer Output window.

Steps to enable Printer support:
1. Create a ZIETrans web project with 5250 session by adding host details.

2. Explore the Connections menu (in the left panel) and select main (default).

3. Go to main.hco tab (in the right panel) and select Printing tab (in the bottom).

4. Select the Enable print support check box and enter the web address in the URL field.

5. Save the Workspace and deploy the project on server.

6. Login into the 5250 host.

7. Execute the print commands to print the file from host.

8. Once print execution is complete, click on the View Print Jobs button to view the printed files.

9. Now, the user will be redirected to i® Access web page.

10. Go to Print menu (in the left panel) and click the Printer output.

11. The list of printed files appears, click the pdf icon in the Action column to view the required printed file.

3270 Host file printing:

Print support is available only for 3270E connections. Enable the printer support and provide the Workstation ID in the Project. Default print settings are for Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).

 

Steps to enable Printer support:


1. Create a ZIETrans Web Project with 3270E Connection.

2. Explore the Connections in the left panel and select main (default).

3. Go to ‘main.hco’ tab (in the right panel) and select Advanced tab (in the bottom).

4. Select the Use a specified value option and enter the required LU or Pool Name.

5. Go to Printing tab (at the bottom) and select the Enable print support check box.

6. Save the Workspace and deploy the project on server.

7. Login into the 3270 host.

8. Execute the print commands to print the file from host.

9. Once print execution is complete, click on View Print Jobs button (in the bottom) to view the printed files.

10. Now, users can open/delete the files by clicking the hyperlink.

Host file printing can be done on the ZIETrans application as the user can create a printer session to print the data and printed files will be generated, which can be displayed to the user.
